Contact Improvn – Classes Cancelled Until Further Notice

CLASSES CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!

Wednesdays 7pm – 9pm
Contact Improv (CI) is a form of movement that can look like many different things to an observer. In fact, people do many different things when they practice CI. It encompasses a dynamic spectrum from slow to fast movement, and nuanced touch to full body contact. However, there is an underlying agreement on which the variations are based, involving placing attention on shared points of contact.

First, participants coordinate as partners by mutually following points of contact that are shared between them. Then, through this shared contact, the resulting activity that arises is shaped by what is practical and interesting for each of them as individuals and therefore the partnership. Eventually, partners become aware of what does and does not work well with their connection, and find opportunities to play within the framework. The more they explore, respecting what is practical and discovering what is possible, the greater the range and variety of things they find that can fit and fulfill the framework.Since each dance is a reflection of the interests and capabilities of the individuals that are participating, there are no special skills or abilities required to have fun and find expression and connection within this practice. Therefore, all levels are welcome.
