July 17th 6pm-9pm Open House
Stop by the Wilkins School Community Center to meet the Alloy Pittsburgh Artist in residence, Bradford Mumpower. Grab a drink and a sweet snack while checking out the work in progress for Bradford’s artwork, a larger than life scale replica of the “greens” jacket wore by steel workers at the Carrie Furnace (the jacket is almost ten yards from the high point shoulder to the bottom hem, and about 20 yards from end of sleeve to end of sleeve with the jackets arms outstretched) to be installed at the Carrie Furnace in August. Ask questions, discuss the project and if interested find out ways you can help work on this art project.
Alloy Pittsburgh and Rivers of Steel have place six artists in neighborhoods of the East End to create an artwork to be displayed to the public in mid August and the WSCC was selected for the Swissvale location for artist Bradford Mumpower. You are welcome to participate by donating old denim, sorting donations, sewing, cutting or just popping in.
