Making Marks & Pushing Paint- 7-10 yrs (4 weeks)
The idea of picture making should be fun and in this course I hope to facilitate that by presenting students with basic tools and knowledge to further explore their creativity and enhance their image. Students will learn about picture making by playing with line, shape, form, value and texture using pencil, ink and charcoal. We will then discuss the principals of color and how to use them through varied techniques with watercolor, acrylics and pastels. This is a great introduction into the foundations of understanding how to draw and paint better without over thinking what you’re actually doing, MAKING MARKS & PUSHING PAINT.
Illustration: Visual Storytelling Course Description- 11-14 yrs (6 weeks)
Explore various ways of story telling through illustration. This class provides an overview of fundamental principals in creating imagery for different types of illustration including narrative, editorial, conceptual, fashion and design-based (t-shirts, posters). Students will learn different mixed-media techniques and approaches to expressing their own sense of style through drawing and problem-solving. By the end of this course, the most important takeaway is processing information and understanding how to capture ideas visually, from little scribbles to full-sized illustrations.
