LUNA (Learning Urban Nature through Art), a free, after-school program for Larimer and East Liberty area youth (ages 8 – 12), launched in 2016. Students learned about the trees and plants best suited for their urban environment and shared what they learned with the community through painted banners and a planting guide coloring book. The 2016 program was based at the Kingsley Association in Larimer and was funded by a Remake Learning grant through The Sprout Fund. Our project partner along with the Kingsley Association was Penn State Center. For 2017, we will be offering a 3-session Saturday morning summer program, “Nature’s Patchwork” at the WSCC featuring art activities and techniques inspired by the shapes, colors, textures of the natural world. Questions? Please contact the WSCC or LUNA: email@example.com or 443-801-3419. Learn more about LUNA at lunapittsburgh.org!
