Beer tasting by Rivertowne Brewery drew new audiences to the Wilkins School Community Center this spring. WSCC invited the Pittsburgh-based brewery to set up a tent in front of the center and offer flights of its seasonal beers as part of WSCC’s special offerings for a Regent Square community event on May 21, 2017.
Residents of all ages (over 21, of course!) tasted the brews, nibbled pretzels and compared notes about the beers. Rivertowne offered the flights at a reasonable $5 per person. More than a few of customers said they left the yard sales and wandered down to the WSCC for a first visit after viewing signs for Books Beer Plants and Dogs.
During the spring community event hosted by the Regent Square Community Center, WSCC traditionally holds its own book sale and leases space to farmers and nurseries to sell vegetables, herbs and flowering perennials and annuals. With clear weather and new crowds, the community center was busy inside and outside on May 21.
WSCC counts on the annual event to generate interest in the community center and to raise funds for programs and classes held throughout the year.
